Broken Planet Market
A Favourite Fashion Brand
Launched by Lukas Žvikas and Indrè Narbutaitè in July of 2020 during the global pandemic, Broken Planet Market has become one of the UK’s fastest-growing sustainable streetwear brands. A futuristic aesthetic of graphic imagery and bold text on a range of oversized silhouettes has attracted over 500,000 followers across their social media platforms and more than 50,000 global customers. Their pieces transcend the boundaries of seasons and this lack of confinement aligns with their emphasis on sustainable innovation.
As the name suggests, the brand is concerned with the current state of the environment, stating ‘we believe that we don’t need a handful of people living a completely sustainable life, but we need millions of people doing it imperfectly’. Whilst their primary goal is to create original streetwear designs, ethical production is at the forefront of their decision making, including sustainable fabric choice, such as organic cotton, recycled nylon and polyester and recycled denim, along with plastic-free and biodegradable packaging. The brand is completely transparent about their processes, stating ‘sustainability is a complicated, constantly evolving journey, and every step forward must be celebrated’, whilst also recognising there are still plenty of opportunities for progression.
Broken Planet Market encapsulates the future of sustainable fashion production and has transformed the streetwear landscape and I believe still has plenty more to contribute to the fashion industry.
