My Favourite Brand

Maison Margiela

During my years of deep diving into the fashion industry, Maison Margiela is a brand that has relentlessly captured my eye. Dynamic, textual, and unconventional are words I would use to describe their garments, and theatrical is what anyone would proclaim about their innovative runways and campaigns. Watching their seasonal fashion shows display the new pieces made me realise how boundless their styles are, which furthermore helped me establish my love of deconstructionism in fashion. Maison Margiela’s Spring 2018 collection that had impressed me, as the show incorporated the audiences camera flash to reveal the reflecting iridescent colours that transformed the clothes into a futuristic aesthetic.

Although I may never decide to personally wear some of their garments, and can not represent my appreciation of the brand by buying from them (due to their expensive prices), I find myself resonating with their genuine exploration of fashion as an artistic expression rather then just a provider of essential items. What matters most to me is how the creative direction tends to hold a sense of excitement when exhibiting their products in person and online, as it inspires me to be my authentic self and find enjoyment in whatever I do.
