Schiaparelli
In the age of minimalism, I am still a major fan of all things maximalist. Schiaparelli, through outlandish silhouettes and bold colour choices, produces loud pieces that stand out against the more minimal designs taking up the market – like that of Chanel or The Row.
Founded in 1927 by Elsa Schiaparelli, the haute couture house produces pieces that demonstrate the concept of fashion being an art form. The founder’s goal was to “make fashion [not] only beautiful” but also “smart, interesting, relevant, risky, alluring”. The brand instilled a creative spirit into 20th century fashion and still does so currently, now under the reign of Daniel Roseberry – the current creative director – who recently revived the brand in 2019.
