Plop Apparels

Plop Apparels is a new brand based in Singapore by a fashion influencer Jermaine Ho. It first originated as an online store for Jermaine to share her love for vintage clothing. Through social media platforms, the business has grown beyond and she opened her first store in Haji Lane Singapore this year. I first discovered this brand through Instagram reels and was drawn into their Y2K aesthetics immediately. During this summer, I actually went to visit the store and I love it even more. The store, the Instagram page, the clothes, and the accessories, all align to the brand’s futuristic style, and everything is so simple yet unique at the same time. You can always find something intriguing in their pieces. Its absence of flashy logos and over-the-top colour combination is another aspect I love because this quiet fashion brings a sense of elegance and timelessness to its clothing. I also love how the brand promotes sustainability. It not only repurposes vintage clothing into new ones but also works with brands that share the same value. For instance, it recently collaborated with a UK-based slow fashion brand Stephanie Liasis, which uses deadstock fabrics to recreate crop tops. Even though fast fashion brands initiate a collaboration, her refusal and sticking to the brand’s philosophy is something I respect in a fashion brand.
